Although young women and girls represent almost 30% of the total juvenile arrests, they receive only 2% of services nationwide.
Because of the lack of alternative programs, jobs, and
housing, young women and girls find themselves locked up or on probation longer for lesser crimes than their male counterparts.
Although nationwide the crime rate is going down, the arrest rate for young women and girls is the fastest growing in the country.
Up to 95% of young women and girls caught up in the juvenile justice system report physical or sexual abuse. 66% are young women of color.

Our programs offer young women a way out of repeated incarceration and the street economy and into self-sufficiency, wholeness, and advocacy. We understand that a huge component of this work is self-care and healing which mean many different things to the young women. For some, it may be eating right, for others it may mean finding reliable childcare so that they can fully participate in our programs. Each of our programs promotes wellness and healthier living.
